On Tuesday Little Gems will be starting a new topic called 'Come and Play'. We will be learning all about toys and how to play lots of different games. Our role-play area is now a game playing area, with lots of different games to play. If you have any board games that you would like to donate to this area, they will be gratefully received. Keep an eye on our outdoor areas too. We have some exciting plans ahead!

Sapphire class have been busy thinking of ways to help Sapphire and the other bears that are stuck in Alaska. So far we ave solved many problems for the bears; we have made Vegetable Soup to keep them warm, we have investigated how Sapphire can make an excellent snowman and we have even written some brilliant 'Winter Poems' by using some photographs that Sapphire sent us. We now know when the bears are coming back, and are counting down the days until their arrival in a few weeks time. But what will Sapphire send us next....? |

We have heard news from Little Gems bears that have been lost in Alaska. Unfortunately, the rescue mission is going to take a bit longer than we expected and if all goes to plan, the bears should be back home on 2nd December. The bears would very much like to hear from you. You can email them a message while they are away. The addresses are... For diamond bear -

On Thursdays from 3.15pm –3.45pm, Little Gems team host a “Fun with Phonics” session. This is another opportunity for you to spend some time in school with your child to practise the sounds that they are learning at school. You can use this time to read their school book with them or work on the computer practising the sound. You can also use our resources (sound mats, loop cards, reading books). There is an expectation that parents will stay with their child for this session and the staff are there to support you working with your child rather than teaching your child. These sessions are for children who are in Little Gems and you are welcome to bring siblings. We expect the older children to sit quietly and read their home reading books. The sessions take place in Miss Budden’s room. If you want to attend these sessions, you need to collect your child at 3.05pm as normal and then a member of the Little Gems team will let you in via the office at 3.15pm. The first session will take place this Thursday at 3.15pm. If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team. Thank you |

This week we have been talking about the different people in our families. We have talked about the different people we live with as well as other family members who we see. The children created collages of people such as mummy, daddy, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles and cousins! We have also been learning to tell a story about a family, Goldilocks and The Three Bears. The Year One children have been brilliant helping the Reception children learn our story making actions, and have been busy making stories of their own! A big thank you to all the grown ups who provided our class with pictures of the children when they were babies, we looked at how we have changed since we were little and had a great game of Guess Who! |
