News From The Eco Committee

Last week, Amelia and Charlie from the Eco Committee met with Mrs Di-Pede to discuss their ideas for how to save energy and promote recycling. There were both a little nervous but did a great job. Mrs Di-Pede offered them a drink to have during their meeting.

They had found out the kitchen staff use the washing machine and tumble drier daily because they need clean aprons for the next day. We asked Mrs Di-Pede if the school could buy some more aprons and tea towels so that the washing could be saved up for a few days. She said that we could!

We also asked if we could buy some more recycling boxes. Every year group has a recycling bin, but it is often quite a walk from some classrooms. We want to put a recycling box next to each bin in each classroom. This will hopefully mean that more paper gets recycled.

The Eco Committee are still meeting fortnightly, turning off the lights in their classroom and helping Mrs Smith with a litter pick. We hope to apply for our Green Flag award soon.
