This afternoon we have taken part in the What’s under your feet project. We randomly chose an area on the field and marked out a square. Mrs Lord then used a spade to dig the square out. We then searched for soil invertebrates and recoded them on a piece of paper. We also measured the length of the Earth worms.
This data will be added on to the internet and will help scientists to understand the relationships between climate, the availability of invertebrates and how this impacts UK birds numbers.
We then made sure that we put everything back where we found it.
