During Arts week, Year 4 have been focusing on the artwork of Hokusai, a famous, traditional Japanese printmaker. The children have explored his piece ‘The Great Wave’ by completing artist copies and having a go at printing. They created some beautiful mixed media pieces and started to explore the use of mono printing. Tomorrow we will begin to layer some prints to try and recreate the image of the wave.
They also investigated different ways of using paint to create atmosphere. The children created representations of the sea in different weather, e.g. a calm day and a stormy day. They splattered, splodged and sponged to show how the water changed!
