We have had a wonderful Arts Week in Year 1 using, ‘The Lost Words’ by Robert MacFarlane and Jackie Morris as inspiration for our artwork. As a year group, we decided to focus on the fox. We explored texture words to describe the fox and used these to guide our drawing, shading and mark-making. We enjoyed creating textures and marks using wax resist, ink pens and tools that we made from leaves and twigs. These were then used to create tonal mosaic squares that were pieced together to make our collaborative fox’s face.
The children were really enthusiastic about their Arts Week and were very proud of their final piece.
