This week, each of the year three classes took a trip to Ferndown Common. The children took samples of a range of plants found on the heath. Then, they surveyed a variety of plants and areas that had been affected by fire and had not been affected by fire. Afterwards, they created a natural bar chart using sticks and pine cones to display the data they had collected. They then compared the areas affected by fire or not affected by fire. They found that there was more bare ground in the areas where there had been a fire.
