We are looking forward to celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in school on Friday 27th May.

We would like the children to celebrate this day by coming to school dressed in the colours red, white and blue – Union Jack colours.

The day will begin with an assembly to mark the occasion and children will be singing some special songs that they have been learning. In class, children will take part in a short history lesson to understand the role and achievements of our Queen.

At lunchtime, we are planning a picnic high tea. There will be a selection of sandwiches (cheese, ham and egg mayonnaise), sausage rolls and vegan sausage rolls, cheese straws, scones with strawberry jam, chocolate brownies and a fruit platter.  The school will also be providing a selection of savoury snacks and squash.  We hope to sit outside, if weather allows and Year 4 will be showing off their country dancing skills!

In the afternoon, each year group will enjoy a creative activity which will allow the children to make and take home a memento of the day. Each year group will focus on a different memento, eg, flags, crowns, decorated plates, postage stamps, jubilee wreaths etc.

For any parents, grandparents, relatives or friends who attended the old Ferndown First School and have photographs of the 1977 Silver Jubilee school tea party, we would love to have photographs to show the children. Please email them into the school office – office@fernfirst.dorset.sch.uk. Thank you!
