On Friday last week, our Key Stage 2 School Council were invited to a community event at Kings Park Care Home, to celebrate our local hero Sarah Middleton, who is the lollipop lady for the Ferndown Schools. The children performed a short thank you poem and presented her with a card, which children from across the school contributed to, thanking her for her bright smile, friendly manner and for keeping them safe on their journey to and from school.
Kings Park Care Home had made a real event of it, with a red carpet, a lovely cake in the shape of a lollipop sign, cupcakes and refreshments for everyone. All the staff and residents were gathered together in the reception area and a member of the Ferndown Council was there who did a speech. One of the care home residents also performed a poem he had written himself. Forest FM were there and a short segment about the event was aired on their evening programme on Wednesday!
We are very proud of the children, who represented our school brilliantly.
