Today, we were visited by Jo from LEAF and Dan, a local farmer. They came to talk to us about farming. Dan showed us pictures of what wheat looks like before it is harvested. He then spoke to us about the tractor and how it performs all of the jobs on the farm. We looked at wheat seeds and tried to split them open with our fingers. It was impossible! Finally, we used a hand wheat grinder to make our own flour. It was fascinating to find out about the early autumn harvest and how our bread starts as a tiny, tiny seed. We are incredibly grateful to Dan and Jo for giving up their time for us. The children had a great time and learnt a lot.
