The children have had a fantastic week in Year 4! We have started lots of exciting topics for this half term, and each class has shown great enthusiasm for learning.
In Maths, the children have been exploring 4-digit numbers with a focus on partitioning. We have partitioned numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones and also experimenting with partitioning flexibly. As well as this, the children have enjoyed taking part in different games to support them in learning their times tables.
In Geography, we started our new unit called, ‘Mapping Our Local Area’. The children had the opportunity to look at large and small-scale maps of Dorset and the neighbouring counties. We then located Ferndown and other towns nearby as well as some cities. The children found it interesting that Dorset has no cities! It was great to see the children using their map skills successfully.
