This week, the children have loved our shared reading book, “That rabbit belongs to Emily Brown”. The book, by Cressida Cowell and Neal Layton, tells the story of a Queen who sends the Army, Navy and Air Force to try and take Emily’s treasured cuddly toy.
The children have been introduced to interesting, new vocabulary such as ‘Royal Highness’, ‘Chief Footman’, ‘Wing Commander’ and ‘Air Force’ and helped tell the story with repeated phrases such as, “rat a tat tat” and “His name’s NOT Bunnywunny, it’s Stanley!”
Through our shared reading of fiction texts, the children continue to build their understanding of character, setting and story whilst developing their comprehension, language skills and love of books. We cannot wait to start our next book on Monday!
