This week Year 1 had their trip to Sir Harold Hillier’s where they enjoyed a variety of outdoor, wild life and plant activities.

The children had fun finding out what seeds need to grow when they played the Jack and the Beanstalk game. They also made scented caterpillars by choosing various herbs from the herb garden and one of the favourite activities was grass sweeping where the children used nets to sweep the meadow and find the various creatures that live in that habitat. This was incredibly exciting for the children who found a real variety of insects including crickets and grasshoppers.

The trip was a lovely way to bring the children’s science learning to life and many of them said they couldn’t wait to go back!
