The current Pupil Premium Grant per pupil is as follows:

  • Pupils in year groups reception to year 6 recorded as Ever 6 FSM £1,480
  • Pupils in years 7 to 11 recorded as Ever 6 FSM £1,050
  • Looked-after children (LAC) defined in the Children Act 1989 as one who is in the care of, or provided with accommodation by, an English local authority £2,570
  • Children who have ceased to be looked after by a local authority in England and Wales because of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order or a residence order £2,570

At Ferndown First School:

The Pupil Premium will be used to provide additional educational support to improve the progress and to raise the standards of achievement for these pupils.

The funding will be used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of these pupils and their peers.

As far as its powers allow the school will use the additional funding to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible for Pupil Premium and others.

Strategies

The pupil premium grant is targeted to:

Closing the gap in English and Maths through Interventions, where required.

Raising aspirations and emotional well-being through joint working with parents and ELSA sessions.

Improving the attendance at school and extra-curricular activities.

The Head Teacher and leadership team will regularly monitor, evaluate and review the strategies we have put in place for Pupil Premium and report to the governing body on its progress and impact.

At Ferndown First School, we use an evidence based approach, using the evidence from the Sutton Trust, to develop strategies which aim to close the gap between Pupils eligible for pupil premium and those who are not.
